Making The Transition
Discover below the reasons why switching to natural deodorant can benefit both your internal and external health along with tips & recommendations to make your transition a smooth one. If your teenage child has just started to wear antiperspirant, now is a great time to set them on a healthy path.
Why should you switch to a natural product?
It's time for a fresh start! Have you ever checked the label on a commercial antiperspirant? Commerical products contain many toxic ingredients that can have side effects to your health.
Some of the typical chemical ingredients found in commercial antipersirant include:
* Aluminum - Aluminum chlorohydrate and aluminum zirconium tetrachlorohydrex glycine) which has been linked to Alzheimer’s disease, some cancers & chronic skin irritations.
* Phthalates - Linked to cancer, birth defects, infertility, allergies.
Parabens
(Types: methyl, ethyl, propyl, benzyl and butyl) that can cause reproductive disorders, endocrine disruption, cancer, premature aging( Nooooo!!!), allergies and immune issues.
* Silica - Possible carcinogen if contaminated with crystalline quartz, skin, eyes and lung irritation.
* Steareths - Endocrine system disruption, developmental/reproductive tissues, skin irritation.
* Triclosan - Antibacterial agent banned in several countries due to contribution to the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, endocrine disruption, muscle weakness, skin, eyes and lung irritation.
Unfortunately, your commercial antiperspirant could be interfering with your body’s natural ability to purge toxins and could be causing long term health effects such as breast cancer or Alzheimer’s disease. Although, the information is still up for debate, applying these chemicals to your body daily for most of your life span can't be good right?

Do I really need to detox my pits? Sounds like too much work!!?
Yes, you can and it's simple! When you switch from an antiperspirant to a natural deodorant, your glands and pores will start to purge the chemical residue from your old product and start to function properly again. While these toxins are being released, you may find that you temporarily sweat a little more then usual. This is good and means that you are detoxing. Some people need to go through the transition period first for about week or two... for others it's quick or doesn't happen. Please allow your body some time to detox and adjust before becoming frustrated and making the switch back to commercial antiperspirants, it's so worth it! You can try our Armpit Detox Powder mask to help re-balance the bacteria and speed up the detox period. Simply use it once or twice a week before you shower and that's it!
Tips for using Nontoxic Deodorant:
*Detox your armpits as you transition to a nontoxic deodorant. See above.
*Don't sweat the small stuff, remember that a little sweat is good for you; if you’re not sweating, less toxins escape from your body.
*If you shave your armpits, we recommend you shave at night and apply deodorant in the morning to avoid irritation.
*If you intend to run a marathon or any other very heavy form of exercise, you may want to re-apply your natural deodorant before/after your workout.
*Try to eat a well balanced diet and drink plenty of water. ( Ok.. easier said then done, I have been known to down a whole bag of Miss Vickies chips by myself!)
